Hi, Eric here!
Welcome to Acquired Waste–a humble, knowledge mobilization project, translating food waste research into things busy pracitioners can use.

In a bit of a pivot from my filmmaking work, I’ve spent the last few months trying to better understand the local food system where I live in Dayton, Ohio. As I started poking around to see what people in this space are working on, I learned that there are approximately 10,000 80-page PDFs on the internet about food waste reduction. Not to mention the webinars. My god, the webinars.
All of these smart, inspiring people, putting their ideas out there...it's all so wonderful and great! But who has time to go through all of this stuff?
👋 I actually found myself somewhat obsessed.
This gave me the idea to start Acquired Waste—a place where I could share the most useful, actionable nuggets sifted from the mountain of knowledge™. I want people who have their hands full with the real work to be able to put what's out there to good use.
That said, I'm approaching this with a beginner's mindset. I am definitely not an expert yet, and I don't know exactly where this will lead, but I promise to share what I find honestly and clearly.
I hope you find it useful.
Yours, Eric
